We listen to our fair share of devil music around here, Slayer, Danzig, Gorgoroth, you know...the usual. But lately we've been taking it a little further back, to when dudes got out their internal butt hurt without hollering all over the damn place. Skip James is about as old school as you can get. He was a bootlegger and a Delta bluesman before anyone really gave a shit about delta blues besides people in the delta. "Devil Got My Woman" is probably his most famous song; it's been on all sorts of soundtracks and compilations and for good reason: it's pretty much hard as f. Any song that starts out with the lyric "I'd rather be the devil" is something we're down with. Not that we're devil worshippers of anything. I mean we DO sell shirts with pentagrams on them (it's technically a Stone A Gram, but that's just semantics) we're just in that curious phase, you know. We just have a thirst for blood knowledge.
