As part of our ongoing series of interviews with the creative minds behind the brands we sell, we hunted down Second Sunday founder and mastermind Brady Huff for a few questions about his new clothing label, men’s fashion in general, and the creative process behind Second Sunday.

TruckerDeluxe: What drove you to strike out on your own and start Second Sunday?
Brady Huff: I worked as the VP of Sales and Merchandising Manager for Monarchy Collection for 6 years.  I felt that I grew with the brand as much as I could and decided to move on and try something for myself.

What was the ideal, or aesthetic that you had in mind when you created the brand?
I originally thought knits were going to be a strong category and I still feel like graphic tees have a niche as long as its something innovative enough to catch everyone’s eye.  I came up with a 2ply style shirt using a 50/50 outer shell as a burn out on top of a 60 single inner shell with a printed graphic.  We also printed  on the top burn out layer, this gives the graphics texture as well as a 3 dimensional feel. The stores and our customers are reacting very well to this type of styling.

How does your personal taste inform the Second Sunday style?
The line is reflective of my personal taste but I also know that there are other guys out there so I make sure the line is diverse.

Who is the ideal Second Sunday man? What type of guy do you envision wearing your clothes?
I have seen a wide range of guys that all react positive to our clothes.  Anyone from the West Coast to the Midwest and East Coast.  These are all very different types of guys and yet they all are a fan of the line.  I am doing something different and I think they can see that it is new and fresh.

What sets Second Sunday apart from the litany of other brands targeting the same demographic?
I think it comes down to the design and aesthetic.  What I am doing in the tee categories sets me apart from the rest and I feel there is enough business to go around if you do something different.

What do you have coming up for fall/winter 2011?
In our Fall/Holiday 2011 collection, we branch out and do sweaters, jackets, leather, and non-denim bottoms but the core of our focus is still our tees.

What’s your long term vision for the brand?
To establish myself myself as a household name like I did in the past.  I feel that majority of the better brands have about a 7 year lifespan and I hope to surpass that by far…

Where do you see men’s fashion going, as far as trends and overall styles, in the short term? In the long term?
I think in today’s market, anything goes.  You can see that now, fashion is anything…
